Pizza on the Park

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Exciting News!  Flamin’ Dames has the chance of appearing at London’s prestigious jazz venue, Pizza on the Park, near Hyde Park.  A very different sort of venue for us.  A tiny stage so no room for our usual theatrical shenanigans, costume changes, clowning etc. An opportunity this time for us to make beautiful music and deliver perhaps subtler wit and humour.  Watch this space for the date which will be posted shortly.

(Whew!  That wasn’t so bad!  Losing blog verginity is quite fun after all!)

flamin’ dames blog virgins

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

if its not facebook or myspace, its website updates & blogging. well ok this dame is dipping her toe, rather than plunging headlong in to cyberchat. but heck, you have to start somewhere..! Not quite understanding what you are getting into might make one act with caution; there again perhaps its better not to know too much. learn what you need to start. our webmaster says keep it simple. keep it chatty. be yourself ! Hmmm. the dames are not known for keeping it simple. Me & Hils can easily waste many hours making it more complex than it needs to be. we happily admit to talking round the houses, probably arriving at the first end of terrace we started at. But we make progess & many of our best ideas come by accident – the verbal out takes on the cutting room floor.
so i have ruled out keeping it simple. perhaps that might improve with practice. what about the “be yourself” bit. heck ! even more alarming. which particular self would you like today? Im not sure i quite subscribe to the one true self anyway. depends what im doing & who im with. In performing mode, we are showing a certain facet of ourselves. its not that it isn’t us exactly, its just not the whole picture. But thats true in almost all circumstances isn’t it ? It interesting with celebs whatever their field or dare i say area of expertise. The public think they know who these people are by seeing their films, listening to their music, seeing them on Good morning or reading about the in Hello! We are all guilty of thinking we know who they are. lets remember we don’t have the whole picture…and be happy that we don’t. Then we are not surprised when the squeeky clean Blue Peter presenter suddenly turns up in some drugsfest or sex binge.
Relevance to flamin’ dames? happily none that i know of but of course i can’t speak for Hils. Point of the ramble i suppose is to add some depth to our website profile. build up more of a picture of these dames for whatever dear reader ventures in.
virginity lost – hurrah!! but can it ever be as good as the first time?
