There's no business like...

Hils and Hels first worked together with “Scene Stealers”, performing opera extracts. They hatched a plan to don the fishnets,  let their hair down and expand some musical horizons; so Flamin’ Dames was born. Their shows are an explosion of high opera, show stopping musicals and specially created comedy numbers, plus a sprinkling of heart rending lyrical moments. An evening with the dames is always great fun, fast moving, highly inventive and guaranteed to please all of the people all of the time. Entertainment with a capital E is always top of the bill.   
  
We share many passions..! So in no particular order – Anything by Sondheim, yoga, Cats, Sea, Kneehigh Theatre Company, all kinds of dancing, Judy Garland, TK Maxx. They however have yet to agree on whether The Archers is a top class soap or radio drivel!

Hils indulges one of her favourite passions - murder!

Hilary started singing in primary school and hasn’t shut up since. Via the Royal Academy of Music, various opera companies, and a one woman show at the Edinburgh Fringe, not to mention countrywide oratorio gigs and ten years of touring with Cavatina Productions (a early prototype of the Dames).

Hel has a rubber fetish

Helen loves variety so she’s as happy singing the serious ladies of opera as she is playing prostitutes in new musicals or touring the USA in Operetta (all of which she has done). She has a degree so is no bimbo soprano but it isn’t in pure maths (Performance Arts actually). With a top up of vocal training from Guildhall School of Music & Drama, she also likes to “Belt” between the top C’s.
