About Flamin’ Dames

Flamin’ Dames are Helen, Soprano and Hilary, Contralto

Hils and Hels are true divas with all the talent & none of the tantrums! They first worked together with “Scene Stealers” performing Operatic extracts and soon hatched a plan to don the fishnets, let their hair down and expand some musical horizons. And so Flamin’ Dames was born. Their shows are an explosion of high opera, show stopping musicals and specially created comedy numbers, plus a sprinkling of heart rending lyrical moments. An evening with the dames is always great fun, fast moving, highly inventive and guaranteed to please all of the people all of the time. Entertainment is always top of the bill.

The Dames share many passions (hmm!) which include anything by Stephen Sondheim, yoga, cats, the seaside, Kneehigh Theatre, all styles of dancing, Judy Garland, TK Maxx, a good Rioja. …They however have yet to agree on whether The Archers is a top class soap or radio drivel!

Hilary Fisher … started singing in primary school and hasn’t shut up since. She trained the Royal Academy of Music, has worked with various UK Opera Companies, performed her one woman show at the Edinburgh Fringe, sung countrywide for oratorio gigs and toured for ten years with Cavatina Productions (read more..)

Helen Whittington … loves variety so she’s as happy singing the serious ladies of opera as she is playing prostitutes in new musicals or touring the USA in Operetta. She’s performed with plenty of UK Opera Companies as well as abroad. She has a degree, so is not quite the bimbo soprano (but it isn’t in pure Maths!). With vocal training from Guildhall School of Music & Drama, she also likes a good “Belt” between the top C’s. (read more..)
