Song workshops for adults

 Flamin’ Dames offer an informal, fun & supportive practical workshop for adults (18+) using physicality, drama & imagination to free the body and release the voice. The aim is to help the performer sing from their whole body with truth & commitment. We welcome all level of experience, from total beginner upwards, and absolutely any style from Opera to Folk including Musicals, Jazz & Pop. The format of the workshop generally comprises a physical & vocal group warm up, then 20-30 minutes working with each participant on their solo piece.  Participants & any non singing observers are practically involved throughout the session to assist the work. We normally use one of our regular performance pianists to accompany, but other options are possible.

The workshops have been highly successful for Orkney Song Workshop, Brighton Festival Fringe & a number of Rural Touring Venues in conjunction with performances.         

Notes: The only requirement of participants is that they can sing their chosen piece from memory. No particular vocal or performance expertise is required, just a willingness to jump in & have a go. However, more experienced singers find the workshop adds new & interesting dimensions to their performance.
